Revision Rhinoplasty for Contracted Nose – Postoperative Experience

I first underwent rhinoplasty at the age of twenty,
after being encouraged by my mother.
However, I was dissatisfied with the result,
particularly the overly high nasal dorsum that began at the bridge,
and I had been considering revision surgery for some time.
Approximately three years after the initial surgery,
I noticed scar tissue and inflammatory changes
developing in the mucosal area of the right nostril.
Due to time constraints, I postponed further treatment,
and only recently, after gaining more flexibility in my schedule,
did I begin actively searching for a revision rhinoplasty clinic.
While consulting for revision surgery,
I learned something I had not previously realized:
my condition was classified as a contracted nose.
This was quite shocking to hear.
As a result, I focused my search on private clinics
specializing in contracted nose and complex revision rhinoplasty,
where long-term responsibility and follow-up would be prioritized.
After multiple consultations,
I decided to proceed with surgery under Dr. Kim Hyun Joo
at RU Plastic Surgery.
Among the clinics I consulted,
this option involved the highest surgical cost,
but I considered it an investment
to avoid undergoing three or four additional surgeries in the future.
During the consultation,
the rationale behind each surgical method and instrument
was explained in a very clear and structured manner,
using detailed presentation materials.
During the postoperative and recovery period,
true to the nature of a private clinic rather than a high-volume setting,
Dr. Kim personally managed postoperative care,
which I found particularly reassuring.
I was thoroughly informed about
the expected duration of postoperative swelling,
the current pace of its resolution,
and how the nasal shape should be evaluated
after contracted nose revision surgery.
Although swelling is still gradually subsiding
exactly as explained in advance,
it is already subtle enough
that people around me are often unaware
that I have undergone surgery at all,
which I find to be the most positive outcome at this stage.
