Over a Year After Revision Rhinoplasty for Contracture
본문

It has been over a year since I underwent revision rhinoplasty due to nasal contracture.
After my first surgery more than 30 years ago, I had multiple revisions over time,
including a procedure using autologous rib cartilage.
Despite additional corrections, my nose gradually became crooked again,
lifted upward, and shortened, with clear signs of contracture and deformation.
Eventually, I prioritized health over appearance and underwent another revision
to remove all implants and cartilage materials.
While inflammation and anxiety improved, my nose did not fully return
to its original shape, and the contracted appearance remained.
After several failed surgeries, I stopped pursuing further treatment for a while.
Last year, believing medical techniques had advanced,
I began searching again for clinics specializing in contracture revision
using only autologous tissue.
After consulting multiple hospitals, RU Plastic Surgery felt like the best fit
in terms of approach, materials, and surgical philosophy.
For this surgery, autologous rib cartilage was used again,
along with scalp fascia to reconstruct both the nasal tip and bridge
entirely with my own tissue.
The recovery required patience, especially due to swelling early on,
but over time the nose gradually stabilized.
Now, more than a year later, my nose feels natural, stable,
and functionally comfortable.
The shape has settled in a direction I’m satisfied with,
without artificial materials.
For anyone who has experienced inflammation or is considering
autologous revision surgery for nasal contracture,
I would strongly recommend at least consulting with Dr. Hyun-Joo Kim.
The consultation was thorough, professional, and centered around the surgeon,
which gave me a great sense of trust.
