Before surgery, I decided to undergo rhinoplasty to address a prominent hump nose and an elongated nasal appearance.
When smiling, my nose tended to widen, the nostrils flared, and the alar base appeared enlarged, giving a so-called “arrow-shaped” look.
For this reason, I hoped to focus more on improving the nasal tip rather than the bridge.
Regarding the surgical approach, the nasal bridge was already sufficiently prominent due to the hump,
so it was left untouched.
A non-implant technique was chosen, and only the nasal tip was augmented using autologous rib cartilage.
I was advised that elevating the nasal tip would help draw in the flaring nostrils and bulky alar tissues,
leading to an overall improvement of the frontal appearance.
As explained by Dr. Kim Hyun Joo at RU Plastic Surgery,
the overall balance has indeed improved as expected.
Now, at three months postoperatively, I have no particular discomfort,
and even acquaintances I meet after a long time rarely notice that I had surgery unless I mention it myself.
