After 15 Years and Three Rhinoplasties, My Final Revision at RU Plastic Surgery
본문

Over the course of 15 years, I underwent three rhinoplasty procedures,
yet each one came with ongoing complications.
The last revision was the most problematic.
Despite choosing a well-known surgeon with extensive experience,
the silicone implant became crooked, the nasal tip turned asymmetric,
and my airway narrowed to the point that daily life became extremely stressful,
eventually leading to social anxiety.
After three years, I realized I could not continue living this way.
I spent an enormous amount of time searching for information through media platforms and online communities,
and that was when I came across Dr. Hyunjoo Kim’s YouTube channel.
It is hard to explain, but there was an immediate sense of trust.
His confident and credible explanations led me to closely review
a large number of before-and-after cases on the clinic’s website.
I saw that Dr. Kim had extensive experience not only with revision rhinoplasty
but also with complex reconstruction cases, including contracted noses.
This alone gave me reassurance.
What stood out most was that the results were not overly dramatic,
but rather natural and individualized to each patient’s facial structure.
At that point, I felt strongly that my final rhinoplasty should be done at RU Plastic Surgery.
During my first consultation, the impression I had formed matched perfectly with reality.
After meeting only Dr. Kim, I made my decision on the spot.
I would also like to mention that the consulting manager was extremely kind and patient,
answering all of my questions in detail and helping to ease a great deal of my anxiety.
Three weeks later, on the day of surgery, I was scheduled for an afternoon session,
which actually felt calm and unhurried.
Although I was nervous about general anesthesia,
the presence of a dedicated in-house anesthesiologist was reassuring.
Before surgery, Dr. Kim reviewed the design in great detail.
Given my age, I emphasized that I wanted the result to look as natural as possible,
and he carefully listened to and respected my preferences.
The revision was performed using autologous rib cartilage and a customized silicone implant.
As I lay on the operating table and anesthesia was administered,
I remember saying that I was in good hands,
and the staff’s warm responses allowed me to relax completely.
Postoperatively, nasal congestion was uncomfortable,
but this is something that accompanies any rhinoplasty and was manageable.
What truly surprised me was the recovery from rib cartilage harvest.
I experienced discomfort for only one or two days,
whereas in a previous rib cartilage surgery, I had struggled for nearly a month.
This experience made me truly understand why Dr. Kim is often referred to as an expert in rib cartilage rhinoplasty.
I tend to swell more than average, which had worried me,
but at every follow-up visit, laser treatments and anti-swelling injections were provided,
and the major swelling resolved relatively quickly.
Some residual swelling remains, but it is gradually improving.
I had specifically requested adequate columellar support,
and I can see that great care was taken in this area.
The nasal bridge is well balanced, and the tip is softly rounded rather than sharp,
which feels harmonious with my natural facial features.
These days, I genuinely enjoy looking in the mirror.
Once the remaining minor swelling subsides, I look forward to resuming skincare treatments
and wearing makeup comfortably after the one-month mark.
While I sometimes wish this had been my first surgery,
I am deeply grateful that I ultimately found Dr. Hyunjoo Kim
and underwent my revision at RU Plastic Surgery.
