The main reason I decided on surgery
was because I had been self-conscious
about my bulbous nose for over 10 years.
Whenever I took photos,
my nose made me lose confidence,
and it really affected my self-esteem.
What I wanted most
was improvement in the wide appearance
and thick nasal tip seen from the front.
While 고민ing about surgery,
I watched a huge number of YouTube videos,
and many of the noses I thought looked great
were from RU Plastic Surgery.
That’s how I started watching
Dr. Hyun Joo Kim’s videos as well.
I liked how he explained rhinoplasty in detail,
and how he focused on achieving the best results
without overcorrecting,
which led me to book a consultation.
During consultation,
we decided to proceed using autologous rib cartilage,
and I personally also felt
that rib cartilage offered the best stability
with lower long-term risks.
My surgical plan included
alar reduction,
short nose correction,
autologous rib cartilage for the tip,
functional nasal surgery,
and osteotomy,
all performed without implants.
I expected severe swelling after surgery,
but the major swelling was actually minimal.
During weeks 2–3,
because the tip had been heavily adjusted,
the area still felt very firm and swollen,
even while washing my face.
Now that it has been a month,
that firmness has gradually softened,
and after returning to exercise,
I could really feel the swelling improving more quickly.
There is still a lot of swelling at the tip,
and some firmness remains when touching it,
so I feel there is still more swelling left to resolve,
which makes me even more curious
about how the final shape will look.
From the front,
the bulbous appearance has improved significantly
because the tip now has much better projection,
so overall I’m very satisfied with the surgery.
