Natural and Refined Rhinoplasty for an Upturned and Small Nose
본문

Before / 1m post-op
I had several concerns with my nose, including an upturned appearance, a bulbous tip, and a relatively short nasal length.
For a long time, people around me often told me that rhinoplasty could make a significant difference,
so it was something I had been considering for quite a while.
I first came across RU Plastic Surgery when a revision rhinoplasty case appeared on my Instagram feed.
The results looked natural, which closely matched the type of aesthetic I personally preferred.
Among all of the rhinoplasty consultations I had previously received, I found my consultation with Dr. Hyunju Kim to be the most detailed and professional.
His explanations gave me confidence in moving forward with the surgery.
Because my nasal septum was significantly deviated, the surgical plan included septal reconstruction.
Approximately 2 mm of silicone was used to augment the nasal bridge, and autologous rib cartilage was also incorporated into the procedure.
One of the most important improvements I had repeatedly discussed with Dr. Kim before surgery was the frontal appearance of my nose.
In particular, I wanted to reduce the amount of nostril show by lowering and improving the position of the columella.
I am very satisfied with how this aspect has improved after surgery.
I did not experience any noticeable bruising after the procedure.
Up until around the two-week mark, there was still some swelling,
and at times I wondered whether the nose had become slightly higher than I had intended.
Now that I am approximately one month postoperatively and more of the swelling has subsided,
however, I am extremely pleased with the overall shape.
At the moment, the nostrils can still appear slightly different in size as the swelling continues to resolve.
The asymmetry is subtle enough that it is difficult to notice unless examined closely,
and I am continuing to monitor how it changes as the healing process progresses.
The scars around the nose and at the autologous rib cartilage donor site are also healing well.
I especially appreciated that the rib cartilage was harvested from an area just below the natural breast crease.
Because of the location of the incision, the scar is relatively discreet and does not significantly concern me even when wearing swimwear.
From the side, the nasal bridge now has more definition while still looking natural and well balanced with the rest of my facial features.
I also feel that my nose photographs much better than before,
and I have received many positive comments from people around me about how well the result suits my face.
At one month postoperatively, I am very satisfied with both the frontal and profile improvements
and with how naturally the new shape blends with my overall appearance.
