Two-Week Review After My Fourth Revision Rhinoplasty
본문

Before / 2w post-op
Before this revision surgery, my nose did not have any major problems and was not particularly unattractive. However, I had always felt that the columella lacked volume, which was something I personally wanted to improve.
While looking through reviews and experiences from people familiar with RU Plastic Surgery, I became interested in scheduling a consultation and eventually visited the clinic to discuss revision rhinoplasty.
My consultation with Dr. Hyunju Kim was very thorough. I had prepared several questions in advance, and I appreciated that he answered each of them clearly and confidently based on his own surgical approach.
More than anything, I could tell during the consultation that Dr. Kim had a strong aesthetic sense, and I felt that his aesthetic direction matched my own preferences very well.
I did have concerns about undergoing general anesthesia and using autologous rib cartilage. However, because I wanted this to be the final rhinoplasty of my life, I decided to proceed with a fully autologous rib cartilage approach.
I also wanted to avoid another synthetic implant because I was concerned about potentially needing another revision many years later. For that reason, I chose an implant-free approach using customized 3D DCF made from processed autologous tissue.
Even immediately after surgery, I could clearly see that the columella, which had been my biggest concern, had gained more volume and definition.
In fact, I feel that the shape turned out even better than I had imagined, which has made me very satisfied with that aspect of the result.
The rib cartilage donor site was more uncomfortable than I had expected during the first few days, but after about one week, the discomfort became much more manageable.
RU Plastic Surgery is often known for relatively limited postoperative swelling, but recovery can vary significantly from person to person. In my case, even now at two weeks postoperatively, I feel that I still have a relatively noticeable amount of swelling and bruising.
When the internal silicone splint was removed at the two-week follow-up, I became concerned because my nostrils appeared vertically elongated and more exposed than I had expected.
Dr. Kim explained that this appearance should gradually settle as the postoperative swelling and tissues continue to change, so for now, I am monitoring the recovery and giving the nose more time.
I feel that once the nostrils settle into a more natural position and more of the swelling subsides, I will be able to evaluate the overall result more clearly.
At this stage, I am continuing to focus on managing the swelling and am looking forward to seeing how the nose continues to refine over the next several weeks.
