One-Month Review After Revision Rhinoplasty for Nasal Contracture
본문

Before / 1M post-op
Before undergoing revision rhinoplasty for nasal contracture, I had developed significant contracture after multiple previous nasal surgeries.
I had been under a great deal of stress for almost a year, and at one of the plastic surgery clinics I had previously consulted, I was even told that it might be better not to undergo any further surgery. At that point, I had almost given up on the possibility of another revision.
I later came across RU Plastic Surgery and heard that Dr. Hyunju Kim had extensive experience with complex nasal reconstruction and contracture cases, so I decided to schedule a consultation.
During the consultation, Dr. Kim explained that, given the condition of my nose at the time, it would be better not to proceed immediately with another major revision. Instead, he recommended allowing time for the condition of the nasal tissues to recover before considering reconstructive surgery.
As part of this preoperative management process, I received two adipose-derived stem cell injections as well as several additional stem cell treatments. After an extended period of treatment and follow-up, I eventually proceeded with revision rhinoplasty for the contracted nose.
For my reconstructive procedure, a portion of scalp fascia was harvested and used together with diced autologous rib cartilage.
The reconstruction was performed using only tissue from my own body, with the goal of rebuilding nasal support and restoring the damaged columellar area.
After nearly a year of ongoing treatment and postoperative planning, I finally underwent the definitive revision surgery about one month ago, and I am extremely satisfied with the progress so far.
Before surgery, my nose had become shortened and noticeably upturned because of the contracture. After the revision, I feel that it has changed toward the more natural and refined appearance I had hoped for.
People around me have also noticed the difference and have told me that my overall appearance looks much softer and more feminine than before.
One of the things that surprised me most was that I experienced very little swelling after surgery.
I also did not have a significant amount of discomfort, and personally, the recovery process felt much easier than I had expected for such a major reconstructive procedure.
After going through such a difficult period for so long, I feel especially grateful and satisfied with how the recovery has progressed during this first month.
